Do you like to camp? Have a 4WD, a tent or a 4WD camper trailer? At Highfield we have two beautiful campsites by our rocky creek!

Yaven Creek Camp is a small campsite best suited to couples. While Wombat Sands is a larger site, perfect for a family getaway or camping with friends. You are guaranteed to be the only campers at your site!

Located roughly half-way between Sydney and Melbourne, and close to the Hume, the Sturt and the Snowy Mountains Highways.

Highfield combines farming with the conservation of endangered habitat. The bush campsite is located in our conservation area by a permanent creek. It is perfectly isolated with bird diversity and access to day walking tracks throughout Highfield and into neighbouring Ellerslie Nature Reserve.

There are no amenities so campers must be fully self-reliant bringing their own camping toilet and leaving no trace. Dogs are permitted but must be tethered or on a leash the whole time. Campfires are permitted when restrictions allow. There is plenty of firewood for you to collect.

If you are looking for inspiration and activities for your stay, check out our tours and local things to do.

Access via 4WD only.

Here is what our camping guests say.

I’m loathed to write a great review because I want to keep it a secret! If you want peace, tranquility, natural beauty, wonderful bushwalking, myriad bird life and access to superb farm produce for you BBQ then this is it! It is remote and 4WD. We will be back.

Well where do we start?  Louise and David were the perfect hosts, their meat and eggs are something I haven’t tasted since being a boy, absolutely scrumptious. The site was just magical with a running creek, plenty of room and very dog friendly, we will definitely be returning and thank the hosts.
